Loïc Kwan Shumeng, 28y old co-founder

About me: born in Madagascar, I grew up in my home country but also in Africa (Cameroon). I have chinese and malagasy origins, the first part of my education took place in french schools while the second part occurred in an American environment. As a consequence, I grew up in a quite multi cultural surrounding. I have few experiences in the hospitality field. My interests ? Travels, photography, entrepreneurship and rugby.

Education : MBA in International Hospitality Management, a joint program of Cornell University and ESSEC Business school, 2001 – 2003

Languages: chinese cantonese, french, english, malagasy and a bit of spanish

Favourite travel experience: I will definitely say the Mitsio Archipel which belongs to Madagascar, but of course I have very good memories of all my travels around the globe. I love the balance between Asia and Europe that we can witness in Istambul, the perfume of the mint tea of Marrakech, the hubbub of the Asian big cities such as Bangkok, Manila, or HK. But of course all the countries have their own charm. But as Buddha mentioned “the most important is the travel, not the destination”.

Already visited: Canada, China, France, Honk Kong, Kenya, La Reunion, Macao, Madagascar, Morroco, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey

Next destination: Laos, Canada… don’t know yet… it’s “all up in the air!” ;-)

Why I started boardinGate? The thing that turns me on is travelling and the entrepreneurship and in this era of communication, I realised that in order to prepare a travel, it was very difficult indeed to communicate with the local tourism actor. He, on the other side, has no tools today to communicate with his potential clients from the other part of the globe. Internet gives the opportunity for that. We want to offer a new way to communicate to the professionals of the tourism industry and on the other side, we want to inspire you travel!!!
